Product Overview and Introduction

Acquire one of the most mechanically fascinating and unusual edged weapons of the Second World War with an Original WWII Italian M91/38 Carcano Folding Bayonet with Scabbard. Developed to streamline equipment for specialized Italian infantry, motorized troops, and paratroopers (Folgore division) carrying short-barreled Carcano carbines, this unique bayonet featured a pivoting hinge mechanism that allowed the blade to fold back alongside the scabbard or stock when not in use.

Crafted with a rigid steel blade, a spring-loaded locking catch, and a wooden or metal-plate grip, this specialized bayonet allowed troops to maintain a compact profile during transport while retaining immediate access to a fixed-blade weapon. Accompanied by its original metal scabbard designed specifically to accommodate the folding assembly, this piece represents a high-demand collector’s item for enthusiasts of Italian military engineering and obscure WWII ordnance.

Historical Significance and Italian Military Innovation

As a specialized accessory issued to elite and mobile units of the Royal Italian Army (Regio Esercito), this folding bayonet carries immense historical weight and distinctive manufacturing pedigree:

• Innovative Folding Mechanism: Designed to solve the awkwardness of long, fixed bayonets on short carbines, allowing the blade to pivot safely along the side of the weapon platform.

• Specialized Troop Issue: Widely associated with Italian paratroopers, bersaglieri, and mobile artillery units operating in constrained combat environments.

• Arsenal Production Stamps: Features period Italian inspection marks, serial numbers, and release catch hardware typical of wartime ordnance factories.

• Complete with Scabbard: Accompanied by its correct matching steel scabbard, completing the operational carry rig.

The Ultimate Centerpiece for Advanced Italian Theater Collections

When your historical exhibition, museum display, or advanced military collection demands unique mechanical variations, scarce folding bayonets, and pristine Italian ordnance rather than standard fixed-blade bayonets, the Original M91/38 Carcano Folding Bayonet stands out as an irreplaceable conversation piece.
