Product Overview and Introduction

Achieve authentic performance, reliable ignition, and consistent muzzle velocities in traditional and modern muzzleloading long guns with Hodgdon Pyrodex RS Black Powder Substitute. Specifically formulated as the exact volumetric equivalent to traditional FFg black powder, Pyrodex RS (“Rifle/Shotgun”) is the most popular and versatile black powder substitute on the market, engineered to excel in large-caliber rifles, muzzleloading shotguns, and inline platforms.

Whether you are hunting big game with a .50 or .54 caliber traditional muzzleloader, shooting smoothbore slug or shot loads in a muzzleloading shotgun, or competing in historical rendezvous matches, Pyrodex RS delivers dependable combustion, excellent accuracy, and significantly easier cleanup than standard black powder.

Versatile FFg Technology and Clean Combustion

Engineered to meet the rigorous demands of muzzleloading hunters and historical shooters, Pyrodex RS offers distinct advantages on the shooting bench and in the field:

• FFg Equivalence: Engineered to match the burn rate and volumetric charge weight of traditional FFg black powder grain-for-grain, allowing for seamless transition using standard powder measures.

• Optimized for Large-Caliber Long Guns: Coarser granulation ensures smooth, progressive ignition and complete energy transfer in rifle barrels .45 caliber and larger, as well as 10, 12, and 20-gauge shotguns.

• Reduced Fouling Composition: Formulated to produce less heavy crusting and easier bore maintenance between shots compared to traditional black powder.

• Consistent Volumetric Measurement: Measures identically by volume to traditional black powder using standard adjustable powder flasks and volumetric measures.

The Professional Choice for Muzzleloading Rifle and Shotgun Handloaders

When your black powder hunting season or historical shooting discipline demands a reliable, high-energy propellant that powers large-caliber long guns with match-grade consistency, Hodgdon Pyrodex RS stands out as the ultimate industry standard.
